The service

Jonghoon Kim of Still Coding operates Songnote. The portal introduces the same address as Piano Play. The service is provided as it is. It does not guarantee sound or storage capacity in every browser.

Example scores

Ode to Joy and Für Elise are short practice settings of public-domain Beethoven works. Twinkle is a practice setting of a traditional melody. Technique Study is an original Songnote study. None of the four includes a recording, and none is a copy of a commercial edition. The basis for each score is on Scores.

The app source package is ISC, and abcjs, used to draw notation, is MIT. A melody being in the public domain is separate from the rights in a published edition you obtained elsewhere.

Files you open

The right in an ABC file you open stays with you. Songnote never receives the file on a server, so it does not store, display, or license that score. Open only scores you are allowed to use.

There is no feature that publishes your score on this public site. A private score stays in that browser.

What not to do

• Read another person’s browser data by bypassing how storage works.
• Disrupt the site with automated traffic.
• Put a national ID number, password, or advertising-account login in an email.

Responsibility

Keep the volume comfortable while you practice. Syntax errors or a browser audio policy can leave the page silent. The checks are in When there is no sound.
